Ok, so I'm a mage in Dragon Age 2 and new to the game as well. I know mages only wear robes but are there any cool looking armor pieces that I could have my character wear that wouldn't have me put so many points into strength and stuff? oh and if there is armor, I'm looking for something kinda darkHelp with Dragon Age 2?
The coolest looking armor is the Champion set you get in act 3. Until then your options are very limited. But, my favorite are the robes of the notorious pirate that you find in Act 2. They look like real clothing.
Mages do not need any points in strength. You should only put your points in to magic, willpower, and constitution. All other stats are useless to you.
