Dragon age 2 mage build?

Anyone playing as a mage right now? if so wat setup are you using?

ie. attributes, abilities, weapons,armour etc

Never played as a mage before so im kinda stuck on figuring out a good build for one

Thanks|||I have a few good mage builds that work nicely.

1. "Cleric"

Role: Healing and supporting the party. This mage will obviously be your healer and should add a variety of crowd control and support skills.

Focus: Creation, Arcane and Entropy trees

Build:

Level 2: Creation: Heal 鈥?The staple of the healer class, of course. Actually, probably a good first skill for every mage to get. It鈥檚 upgrade increases its potency, so consider getting that when you feel its necessary.

Level 3: Creation: Heroic Aura 鈥?This sustained mode adds attack and defense to all party members in range. Bring your mage in close (but not too close) to make sure your allies can take advantage of this.

Level 4: Creation: Glyph of Paralysis 鈥?This lay-down spell will create a trap for your enemies to fall into. It can paralyze up to two enemies and lasts four seconds. Great for opening a battle, great for the middle of a battle.

Level 5: Arcane: Mind Blast 鈥?Like Origins, Mind Blast will reduce threat around your mage. Unlike Origins, this doesn鈥檛 stun (well, it does with an upgrade), but still knocks people back. It鈥檚 a stepping stone to a later skill.

Level 6: Arcane: Barrier 鈥?This will give a character a 50 percent boost in damage protection. Should work great for helping your tank character make it out of those tough battles.

Later: Maxing out the Creation tree probably isn鈥檛 a bad idea. In the Arcane tree you can pick up Crushing Prison or you may want to start dabbling into Entropy for some hexes and disables or move into one of the damage tree to pick up a couple of those spells.

2. "Sorcerer"

Role: Damage. You鈥檒l be dropping spells all over the battlefield to destroy your enemies. Direct or area damage is your game.

Focus: Elemental, Primal and Spirit trees

Build:

Level 2: Elemental: Winter鈥檚 Grasp 鈥?A single-target spell, Winter鈥檚 Grasp can slow enemy attack and movement speed.

Level 3: Elemental: Fireball 鈥?An area-of-effect spell, Fireball does damage as well as can knock enemies out of the fight for a moment.

Level 4: Elemental: Cone of Cold 鈥?It doesn鈥檛 do as much damage as Winter鈥檚 Grasp, but it will hit an area of enemies and slows them even further. While it鈥檚 not as fantastic as it was in Origins, its upgrade can allow you to freeze and Brittle enemies.

Level 5: Elemental: Firestorm 鈥?The next fire spell in the line, Firestorm is essentially a new inferno spell. It will drop heavy area-of-effect damage.

Level 6: Creation: Heal 鈥?Yeah, heal is pretty much a good idea for every class. You may want to mix this in there a bit earlier in between damage spells, but let that be based on your taste and the availability of other mages in your party.

Later: While this build focuses on the Elemental tree, you can go with the Primal or Spirit trees, picking up the attack skills you like. Basically one major goal playing as a damage mage should be to pick up the handy mastery skill in whatever tree you specialize in.

|||Hi there, even though Mr X is mostly true, if you take the Spirit Healer specialization you will spend most of your time with healing aura on, and you can't cast damage dealing spells while on this mode, neither some crowd control from the Entropy tree.

Right now i'm on my second play through, picked a warrior on my first time and used Anders as my healer and Merrill as the CC/damage dealer mage which turned out pretty good, but that's just me and my preference for mages :P

This time i picked a mage, and decided to be the healer, because i definitely want Merrill with me again :P(romance her ^.^) and im going for Creation/Arcane trees with Spirit Healer Specialization, more of a buff/heal/support type mage, wont be using the glyphs which i loved in DA:O but for some reason i just don't like 'em that much this time, and ill let Merrill handle the damage dealing with entropy as well, loved those CC/debuff spells.

As of attributes, go for magic/willpower dropping some points on constitution might be well worth it, after all if you are playing a healer mage you dont want him to get killed by a rogue in 2-3 seconds %26gt;.%26lt;|||Haven't played the second one yet, as I only bought it yesterday. However, from playing the original, you want to focus on building up your willpower and magic when it comes to attributes.
